My Favorite Designer Dupes

This week we are talking designer dupes or duplicates, these are more affordable versions of a designer item usually offering lower quality materials. As the self proclaimed high/low mixer I enjoy rewarding myself with luxury items but I also find dupes necessary in my wardrobe. I love using dupes to test out a trend or something I'm not sure about. Whether its the size of something or just a new style that I'm not familiar with, I love using dupes to ensure the item works in my wardrobe.

Dupes are great when I want to have fun with trendy items, for example the fanny pack trend which I am loving at the moment but I'm not comfortable spending $1,100 on something that I may find laughable this time next year. So I usually venture into dupe territory when I'm undecided about a luxury item and need to take it for a test run. I also love trying out dupes when I know that something is not a classic therefor I would never spend a large amount of money on it ( my pockets are not set up that way) but I can still enjoy the trend until I get bored of it!

Below I have listed the dupes I have in my collection along with the luxury version, everything will be linked if its still available. Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment letting me know what dupe was your favorite!

Don't forget to leave your email below, See ya!

Thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite looks with my designer dupes, in case you were still on the fence about them, lol.

Testing Trends: 2018 Must have sunnies

Hey girl hey! I don't know about you but I am ready for a vacation and in need of some warm weather. In preparation for my upcoming trip to LA I was looking to pick up some new sunnies and realized there are a ton of new styles and shapes. I thought it would be fun to make a little Amazon order and test out a few of the 2018 trends and let you know my thoughts! Drop a comment down below on what your favorite pair was and also let me know if you have any suggestions for activities for my LA trip. And in case you are ready to walk on the wild side all sunnies will be linked, click the title for each pair!

This pair took me by surprised, out of the box I thought they were a bit much but surprisingly they kinda work for me ( in my opinion of course). I love a good over-sized sunny and this one doesn't disappoint, its easy to wear but still stand out. This shape typically pairs well with a more 70's boho summer look but the metallic finish ups the cool factor which makes them easy to pair with fall/winter looks. These are going into my permanent rotation asap!

This trend was every where in 2017 and at first glance it was a hard NO for me but after my mini photo shoot I am kinda into it. Now these sunnies are not your typical throw on and go shades that would go with everything but with the right look that can definitely be the icing on the cake. I would pair these with black skinnies, a black turtleneck, ankle boots and over sized coat ( look for that outfit coming soon on my Instagram, lol) Confidence is key to rocking this pair so act accordingly.

I'm sure everyone has seen this look all over Instagram, Gucci set the trend and the masses followed. Oddly enough this pair has been quite easy to wear, I have thrown them on with dress pants a blazer as well as leggings and a faux fur. This pair definitely stands out the most, I could feel the stares at the coffee shop as I casually slayed, lol. The classic square frame and embellised detail are a surprisingly perfect combination. This pair flattered my face the most and pink is my favoirt color so it was a win win situation.

There you have it babes, my test run of the latest and greatest of sunglasses trends. I have added below similar sunnies styled up with outfits, hopefully these pics give you a little more inspiration to step outside the box and try these new trends! Let me know what you want me to test out next. p.s keep scrolling to see me in my favorite pair........see ya!

How to Stay Stylish in Cold Weather

When its cold, like really really cold , its becomes very difficult to put forth the effort to look stylish. So I'm here with some of my favorite tips to staying warm in this disrespectful weather, lol. Let me know what your favorite tips are to staying warm in the comments below!

IMG_6717.JPG

Tip #1 : Chic Layers - This is the time of year to play up the layers, this adds warmth obviouslty but it also adds depth and interest to a basic outfit. Feel free to layer button up shirts, denim jackets, and leather jackets under your favorite coats and sweaters for a chic look!

Tip #2: Outfitting your Coat-  It's time to make your coat apart of your look! Accessorize it, belt it, and make it look so good that you don't need to take it off to show what's underneath. This is a great tip when you have to be outdoors for an extended period of time or you have to go in and out often. I like this look for outlet shopping and exploring outdoor monuments.

Tip #3 : Cool Accessories - Cold weather calls for scarves, hats, and gloves so make the most of these accessories with fun colors, prints, and textures. I love splurging on these peices since you will wear them loads and they are neccesities. Try out an oversized scarf or  fur stole to drape over your coat, or chic moto gloves to add edge to a classic coat. There are so many options for warm weather gear and this is a great way to add the cool factor to a simple look.

Tip #4: Try out new trends: 2017 was the year of the coat, we saw a few new trends emerge as well as trends come back around! Lucky for us they are all cold weather freindly , you can choose from the puffer coat, teddy bear coat, faux fur coat, or the over asized coat. All of these options are super cozy and can be found at every price point.

So who's ready to keep it chic and stylish all winter long?? I'm going to assume you're raising your hand very enthusiastically, lol. I hope these tips give you a little inspiration to keep that style going and show this weather you are not to be played with. Stay warm my loves, See ya!

How to Style: Monochromatic Outfits

Lets talk monochromatic outfits, the goal of this look is to rock one color head to toe. This can be in one shade, or a variation of hues in one color family. I am currently obsessed with this trend and I wanted to share a few of my tips and tricks on pulling this look off. Lets get into it!

FullSizeRender (21).jpg

Tip#1: Pick a color that you are comfortable in, monochromatic looks stand out so you don't want to worry about feeling uncomfortable in a color that you rarely wear. If you don't normally wear bright colors now is not the time to put together a head to toe lime green outfit (don't fall for the pinterest trap, lol). If you are more of a neutral person go for head to toe gray, camel, white,or black. They are super chic and give off an effortless vibe!

Tip #2: Play with texture, in order to keep the look from falling flat. There are so many awesome textures to play with this time of year, so try out velvet, satin, leather, lace, or wool to name a few. This tip will add interest and depth to your look, I suggest sticking to one texture as the standout piece and not mixing more than two textures.

Tip #3: Keep it simple, so you don't distract from the overall look. The monochromatic look is going to make you stand out so keep your silhouettes simple and streamline. Sticking with classic separates will make it easier to pair looks together and keep your theme cohesive.

Tip #4: Have fun, play around with this trend and find what you feel comfortable in. Add your favorite accessories to the look and don't be afraid to make a statement!

Bold Lips: My Current favorites

Hey Loves! Kicking off 2018 I am challenging myself to get out of my comfort zone with all things make-up related ( and life related but that's another blog post for another day, lol). For the past few weeks I have been testing out bold lip colors from high end to low end and  I wanted to share my favorites.

 Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle in Clapback

Currently I have four bold lippies that I am obsessed with:

  1. Maybelline Vivid Liquid Matte in Wicked Berry
  2. NYX Lip Tease in Red Queen
  3. Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle lipstick in PMS
  4. Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle lipstick in Clapback ( pictured above)

I love the Maybelline Vivid Matte collection for the wide range of colors and super affordable price, they don't dry down like most liquid lipsticks so you may want to pass if that bothers you. I don't mind it since its winter and  I have been shying away from dry formula lipsticks in general plus the color payoff makes it worth it in my opinion.

I found the NYX Lip Tease in Red Queen about a mointh back and it has replaced most of my previous red matte lipsticks. I love that it drys down quickly, its easy to layer on without getting cakey, and it doesnt dry out your lips like most liquid lipsticks ( oil is one of the key ingriendents).

 NYX Slip Tease

Last but not least the newest additions to my bold lip collection and current favs I might add are the Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle lipsticks. My absolute favorite is PMS which is a gorgeous rich brown  and I am also loving Clapback which is  a muted blue tone. This formula is super creamy and hydrating on the lips, you almost forget your wearing lipstick. Prepare to see PMS on my lips all winter long, and maybe summer too, lol.

That's my round-up loves! I may have a slight addiction to bold colors now, I guess we will see how long this obsession last. See Ya
